Back Home in Lithuania

Dona Mei

Dona Mei is a Lithuanian who lived in America for several years, and has now returned to Lithuania to live.  She says that she only says what she sees.  She is sorry if her words offend some patriots, but it her opinion.  While she was abroad, many of the children in her extended family grew up and became young adults.  Looking at the girls, she sees that they are all very pretty, and there are many pretty girls in Lithuania.  This is a problem because they all feel like they need to somehow make themselves noticed.  They starve themselves to be thin.  They are obsessed with clothes, cosmetics and jewelry.  She was amazed to learn that among young people it is widely believed that how a person looks is far more important that who they are or what they are able to do.

Kaip jauiasi gr gyventi Lietuv?

Dona Mei

(tsinys)

Tsiu  spdius  i  Lietuvos. Gal nuoirdiems Lietuvos patriotai mano rainyje  aptiks juos eidiani viet, atsipraau, taiau  k  a  galiu  padaryti? K  matau-  t dainuoju...

Didelje  mano  giminje (man gyvenant Amerikoje)  iaugo  nemaai  jaunimo, ypa  paneli;  net  stebiuosi  kodl  taip  yra- visos  lieknos, auktos, graios.   Tikrai  lietuvaits  graios, niekaip  to  nepaneigsi.

Dvasinis  grois?  O k  u  j  nusipirksi?  I to kyla  daugiau  problem - ne visi tvai stengia puoti savo grauoles, bet visos nori buti pasipuousios. Ypa jaunos - kokios trylikamets;  juk  gyvenimo  vertybs  joms  dar   tokios  neaikios!

Jos ino, kad visada yra  prog  usidirbti  pinig nepriklausomoje Lietuvoje - "go go"  okiai  naktiniuose  klubuose  -  danos  svajon.  Bet  kiek  ten  toki okj  reikia?  Utat  yra  ymiai  "purvinesnio"  darbo,  kur  nepilnamets  gali  udirbti  daugiau,  nei  pilnamets...Neraysiu, neiurpinsiu  doroving  moiui  vaizdeli  aprainjimu;  net  ir  man,  maiusiai  visoki  io  pasaulio  grimas,  darosi  nejauku.

Utat  mielai   Lietuvl  plsta  vyrai  usienieiai:  "Graios  ir  pigios  js  mergos!"  -  girdjau  ne  i  vieno. eng  pirm  ingsn    kapitalistinio  gyvenimo  diungles,  visai  pasimetme  -  pinigai  tapo  aukiau  visko,  j  sigijimo  bdas  pasidar nebesvarbus.

( statistika  i  LR dienraio).

Jokia paslaptis,  jog  turtingi  arab  eichai  "usisakinja"  btinai  nekalt  mergaii   vis  daugiau  ir  vis  jaunesni. Ir  u  tai  moka  didelius  pinigus. Ms vyriausyb, susirpinusi savo materialins gerovs auginimu,  iki iol dar nerado laiko priimti statymui, sauganiam vaik teises ir juos ginaniam. Galite sivaizduoti? Tokio statymo i viso nra!

Policija   prekyb  monmis  dar  tinkamai nereaguoja  -  viskam   trksta  pinig.  J  reikia naujiems  seimn  BMW  automobiliams,  modernesniems  neiojamiems  kompiuteriams  pirkti,  brangioms ir Lietuvai jokios naudos neduodanioms kelionms po pasaulio alis. O  kiek  ilaid   visokiems  renginiams  ieina? Juk beveik  kiekviename  dienratyje ms  seimnai  fotografijose- su  ampano  taurmis  rankose. Vien venia ir venia.

Taigi,  mergaits - "pardavimui"...   Ne kain  kiek  jos  ir  teusidirba,  nes didel  pinig dal  pasiima  negailestingi  svadautojai.

Nesmagu  skatyti? Be jokios abejons!  Nuotaikai pakelti pasakysiu, jog daug  jaunimo  mokosi, yra  gabs,  siningi  ir  pasiruo   dorai gyventi.  Galite sivaizduoti (jei nuo to palengvs), kad aprayt didel dalis  kilusi  i asociali,  prasigrusi eim,  dar kita- i  globos  nam.  ia sociologai siunia dar vien signal-  -  kasmet    asociali  eim  sraus  patenka  vis daugiau naujai  prasigrusi (kuriose iki iol nebuvo girtuokliaujama)  eim...

At first she was shocked that schoolteachers didnt pay any attention to these things, seeming to accept them as small and unimportant.  Later she learned that they were just tired of fighting for their tiny salaries, and tired of endless changes of direction in the educational system.

For moral guidance, kids are left on their own.  Spiritual beauty means nothing.  What can you buy for it?  From this come many problems.  Not many parents can afford to decorate their daughters the way the daughters want.  It is especially a problem with thirteen year olds.  Girls of that age do not yet know about the real values in life.  But they know very well how to make money in independent Lithuania.  Their dream is to dance in night clubs, but only a few are taken.  Thats why they take dirty jobs where minors can make more money that adults.  Hordes of foreigners come to Lithuania because of the beautiful and cheap young girls.

Lithuanias first steps into capitalistic culture have led to many people losing their moral compass.  Money has become the only goal and how you make it doesnt matter so much.  It has been reported in our newspapers that rich middle eastern men are buying young virgin girls in Lithuania at very high prices.  They require more and younger girls all the time and are willing to pay big money for them.  Our government, in all the years since independence has not found the time to pass a single law protecting the rights of our children.

The police dont even pay attention to this trafficking in human lives.  They say they dont have enough money.  But there is plenty of money for fancy new cars for government officials, more modern laptops and other gadgets, and expensive, worthless trips abroad.  Almost every day we see in the newspapers, pictures of our government officials celebrating with glasses of champaign.  They are celebrating and celebrating.  And girls go for sale.

Not all our young people want this life.  Many are talented, honest and ready to live honestly.  We can hope troubled kids mostly come from troubled families, but there are more and more troubled families every year.
